Greene County farmers are pulling together to raise funds to help their counterparts who have suffered huge losses in wildfires that raced across Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Colorado. A benefit supper will be served Saturday, April 1, in the Paton Community Center.
The Greene County Cattlemen’s Association, Pork and Lamb Producers are working together to provide the meal which will be served from 5 to 8 p.m. A free will offering will be accepted with all proceeds to be forwarded to the farmers in neighboring states.
Kyle Niles is heading up the event with assistance from many others. She explained the effort began with a discussion at church and has expanded to the county-wide event. Many ag businesses and individuals have chipped in with donations. A silent auction is also planned.
